Shakespeare Festival
May 18, 2006

SF10.jpgThanks to a generous grant from the Perloff Foundation, the freshmen Shakespeare Festival returned again to Maranacook! It began with an assembly in the gym, including a welcome from Queen Elizabeth and William Shakespeare, a performance by visiting actor/teacher Ted Tibbetts and his Shakespeare Club, and music, monologues, and skits performed by older MCS students.

The assembly was followed by a parade through the middle school. After a snack break, the Media Center hosted performances of cuttings from Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet, art/theater workshops took place around the school, and Food Services Director Jeff Bridges whipped up an Elizabethan lunch. Workshops were followed by fun and games in the PAC (class competitions in juggling, hackey sack, lobster toss, potato toss, trivia game, jeopardy).
