What is the SAT?
The SAT® is a three-hour-and-forty-five-minute test that measures the critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills that students need to do college-level work. Most colleges require this test for admission. As of April 1, 2006, it will be taken by all high school juniors in lieu of the MEAs as a measure of Maine's Learning Results. This will also allow students to take it again in their senior year if better scores are desired.
Maranacook has partnered with the College Board to provide students with The Official SAT Online Course™, which is available 24 hours a day from any computer with Internet access. Students should pick up a registration card from their advisor to sign up for the course, which features the following:
- 18 lessons including interactive activities and multimedia content
- Six official practice tests and over 600 practice questions
- Personalized score reports and detailed answer explanations to help students understand where to focus additional study; and
- Sample essay questions with student responses to help them prepare for the SAT essay.
