Maranacook Student Health Center
Open 7:30 am - 3:00 pm every day school is in session

Health Center is ‘SWEET 16’

The Maranacook Student Health Center is in its 16th year of operation, the longest running school-based health center in the state of Maine. To celebrate, the student advisory committee and health center staff hosted an open house during the Maranacook –Gardiner basketball game on Friday evening, January 30th. It was a great success. Over fifty parents, students and community members from both the Maranacook area and Gardiner area enjoyed a student led tour of the health center, received a Sweet 16 lollipop, and entered a drawing for a chance to win prizes! Larry Ralph and Chris Beckwith of the Maranacook area won gift cards to Subway. Also, Ben Berlew and Brandon Caron, students from Gardiner High School won gift cards to J&S oil. The Open House activities were supported by a grant from the Kellogg Foundation. As always, the health center appreciates the on going support of the school and community and the ability to provide needed medical and mental health services to students in grades 6-12, when their parents choose to register for health center services.

Below are links that will take you to a number of informative web sites that address various health topics. The health center student advisory committee and the adult community advisory committee reviewed and recommneded these web sites for inclusion. Also included is a link to a number of free/low cost activities around central Maine that provide the opportunity to get outside & enjoy the fresh air while getting some exercise.

The school-based Maranacook Student Health Center serves all students in grades 6-12. Services are designed to meet the needs of the students during school hours. The mission of the Health Center is to provide support for the optimal physical and mental health of MCS students by providing access to a comprehensive array of treatment services, health information and referral services. Our aim is to keep students healthy; reduce time lost from school; teach healthy lifestyle practices, and detect and treat problems and illnesses before they become serious. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own health care. The Maranacook Community School District/CSD #10 and MaineGeneral Health Associates jointly support the Student Health Center.
