On-site Behavioral Health Counselors
The School-based Behavioral Health Collaborative provides on-site counselors at Maranacook from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm every day school is in session. Cindy Flye, Health Center Coordinator, and Vicky Gabrion, Middle School Nurse, work closely together to coordinate referrals, counselor case loads and appointments with the Collaborative team at Maranacook. Being able to work directly with students, staff and parents at the school provides a unique opportunity to deliver counseling services in an environment that is familiar to the students and their families. It also encourages more effective communication/coordination between all of the people that share responsibility for the students’ healthy development. organizations who provide services five days per week. This year, all counselors are from the Kennebec Behavioral Health (626-3455). They include:
Deirdre Finney Boylan, LCSW (Mondays)
Deirdre has over 15 years of professional experience working with children and families in counseling and psychotherapy. In addition to trauma treatment, her interests and expertise include working with children and families coping with issues of divorce, blended families, substance abuse and sexual abuse. Deirdre is with us for a fifth year.
Jeff Wilbur, LCSW (Tuesdays)
Jeff has over 12 years experience working with youth and families. He especially enjoys working with adolescents with substance abuse issues or those who are behaviorally challenged, including working with their families. His areas of expertise include Attention Deficit Disorder, Conduct/Disruptive Disorder, Developmental Disorders, Trauma/Attachment Disorders; Men's/Boy’s Issues, Parenting, and Crisis Intervention. Prior experience includes individual and family therapy work at the Spurwink Clinic, Goodwill Hinckley School , Protea Behavioral Health Services, and Youth & Family Services, Inc. This is Jeff’s second year at Maranacook.
Mary Hiers, LCSW (Wednesdys, Thursdays, & Fridays)
Mary has approximately 20 years experience in her field and specializes in trauma, grief, eating disorders, and anger management. She enjoys working with adolescents for their creativity and willingness to take risks in an effort to make positive changes. Mary uses a holistic approach including cognitive behavior treatment, health and fitness, and meditative techniques. This is Mary’s sixth year at Maranacook
