EXPANDED COUNSELING SERVICES MARANACOOK STUDENT HEALTH CENTER
The School Based Health Center offers high quality, on-site counseling services through the School-Based Counseling Collaborative. The Collaborative is sponsored by Kennebec Behavioral Health. These services are available to any student who is signed up for expanded health center services.
• Individual and family counseling
• Substance abuse assessments and treatment
• Educational support groups
• Educational seminars for staff, students, and parents
• Consultations for parents and MCS staff
• Referrals for off-site treatment
Requests for Services:Requests for these services can be made by contacting the school nurse at the high school or middle school. The school nurses will work together to coordinate each counselor’s caseload, make appointments for students, send reminders, and assist with communication between the counselor and staff or parents if necessary. If a student or parent is not sure they want or need counseling they can set up a time to consult with one of the counselors. This will give the student/parent an opportunity to meet one of the counselors and decide if counseling is something they want to pursue.
Counseling Team: The team consists of providers from Kennebec Behavioral Health and Health Affiliates Maine who provide services five days per week.
Services are provided at both the high school and the middle school. Services are billed for through health insurance by Kennebec Behavioral Health. If a student’s family does not have health insurance the team will work with the family on payment options.
